Welcome to ABC-PATTERNS !!!
® TM
ABC-PATTERNS is a pattern-collection for use with the Amiga Workbench.
ABC-PATTERNS requires Workbench 2.0 or higher!
The patterns are designed for ...
- a proportional ScreenMode (640x512, for example) with square pixels
- an 8-color Workbench Screen (3 bitplanes)
- colors similar to the colors of "MagicWB" (© 1993 by Martin Huttenloher)
I prefer a more intensive blue (color 3) and red (color 7). You can see
my Workbench colors by double-clicking "ABC-Colors". I also included
"ABC-Screen" (Hires interlaced) to make testing easier.
HOW TO USE:
~~~~~~~~~~~
For Workbench 3.x ...
You can copy your favorite ABC-PATTERNS to your Workbench-Disk and select
them as backgrounds for the Workbench Screen & Windows in the programme
WBPattern. It is located in the Prefs-Drawer of Workbench 3.x.
BEFORE you try to load a pattern you should change the colors of your
Workbench Screen with ABC-Colors! To save the colors permanently use
"Palette" in the same Drawer.
THEN you can open WBPattern, choose the location for the pattern (Workbench,
Windows or Screen) and the type "Picture". Now click on the gadget
"Select Picture" and select a pattern.
For Workbench 2.x ...
Additional to the above instructions, Workbench 2.x users have to
- install `NickPrefs` (© by Nicola Salmoria)
- re-color the patterns with a paint program (like "DPaint") to the
Workbench-Colors because of the different behaviour of Workbench 2.x.
Just choose a proportional ScreenMode, import the Workbench-colors,
load the pattern as a "brush" and re-color it. Then save the brush
with a new name.
PATTERNS - a short history:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Version 1.0 (14.07.1994)
-------------------------
I created four types of patterns:
The AmigaAmiga-Patterns consist of two Amiga plates,
the Checkmark- Patterns consist of checkmarks (the famous Amiga symbol),
the AmigaCheck-Patterns is a mixture of both and
the AmigaBig - Patterns is my favourite one, it has a special big format.
The name "ABC-PATTERNS" is a hint on the filenames of the patterns:
The A-Series has a plain background.
The B-Series has a rough background.
The C-Series has a wavy background.
The number in the filename is the number of the plate-pattern. Some files
have an additional "B", which corresponds to the brown Amiga letters.
I hope this helps you in finding your favourite patterns.
I also included the background patterns Ground.rough and Ground.wavy.
Version 1.1 (04.10.1994)
-------------------------
This is an update to the first release. It contains 111 new patterns:
The D-Series has a background with a diagonal matrix.
The E-Series has a background with a vertical matrix.
The F-Series has a background with a combined (d & v) matrix.
Again I included the backgrounds: Ground.D, Ground.E and Ground.F.

COPYRIGHT NOTE:

ABC-PATTERNS is Mailware and absolutely FREE distributable!
You are allowed to re-distribute this package as long as you follow
these points:
1. Any Re-Distribution has to include all files in this archive,
including this document file, without any modifications!
2. This package may be freely distributed via BBSs, InterNet/UseNet,
software libraries such as Fred Fish's and Aminet CD-ROM, and other
similar electronic channels.
Disk magazines and services that charge extra for file transfers may
NOT distribute ABC-PATTERNS.
You are allowed to convert your favourite patterns for a non-proportional
screenmode (640x256, for example) if you can`t use the flickering modes
on your monitor, but please don`t include them into the package.
You are NOT allowed to use ABC-PATTERNS or any part of it for any other
purpose than that one mentioned above, this also includes the images the
patterns consist of.
By using these patterns, you accept the full responsibility for any
damage or loss that may occur through their use. The author can not be
held responsible. (I hope this is a less important point.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NONE of the patterns may be used on any machine which is used for research,
development, construction, testing or production of weapons or other
military applications. This includes any machine used for training persons
for any of the above mentioned purposes.

MY REQUEST:
~~~~~~~~~~~
Because I believe it is ridiculous to require any amount of money for
the right to use one or two patterns, I decided to release this package
as MAILWARE!
I would be happy to receive any mail considering ABC-PATTERNS because I
want to know whether anyone likes them, or not.
If you think they are ugly or useless, please tell me why you think so.
